I WAS HOMELESS, SLEPT IN HOTELS WITH MY NEWBORN BABY FOR THREE MONTHS — Actress Portia Asare Recounts

Popular Kumawood actress and screen diva, Portia Asare has offered a very intimate and poignant account of the challenges she encountered in the early phases of motherhood.

The actress said that she was left homeless soon after giving birth in a heartfelt video posted on her Instagram on November 30, 2025.

Portia Asare described the difficult obstacles she faced as a new mother while holding back her tears.

She bravely disclosed that she had nowhere to live after being released from the hospital and had to spend a lot of time sleeping in motels with her newborn.

“There were times I had to sleep with my children in hotels, and I didn’t want anybody to know. I had to hide myself in places where nobody would notice,” she emotionally stated.

The actress described how difficult it was to move from hotel room to hotel room for three months while nursing her infant and lugging all the postpartum supplies she needed to recover swiftly.

“Imagine giving birth to a baby who is breastfeeding, and I had to sleep in hotels for three months. During this period, I was moving from one hotel room to another.”

Portia Asare said she never thought she would talk about this challenging period of her life.

Her desire to uplift her fans—especially women—who could be going through comparable silent struggles drove her.

The style influencer urged her followers to have faith in God and believe that their challenges are temporary and that there is “light at the end of the tunnel.”

“I never imagined that a time would come when I would share this to encourage people that whatever they are going through, they are not the only ones facing such challenges, as others are also experiencing similar difficulties. …There will be a day and a time when you will smile at the storm and say that this far we have come by grace,” she concluded.
