Veteran Highlife musician and media personality Akosua Agyapong has sparked debate with her bold advice to singles, urging them to have sex before marriage to avoid future regrets.
Speaking in a candid discussion on JoyPrime TV (April 10, 2025), the celebrated artiste argued that premarital intimacy helps couples understand each other’s desires and could prevent divorce or extramarital affairs.
“Sex before marriage is very important,” Akosua stated. “We were all raised differently, and you could end up miserable if you don’t truly know the person you’re marrying.”
She painted a vivid scenario: “Imagine saying ‘I do,’ spending millions on a wedding, only to discover your husband has performance issues or… let’s say, ‘inadequate equipment.’ How do you stay in that marriage?”
The “Frema” hitmaker also challenged religious stigma around premarital sex, stating that adultery is worse than fornication.
“Fornication involves consenting adults, but adultery breaks vows and families. Sometimes, we make Christianity so rigid that it becomes hard to worship God practically,” she added.
