YOU NEED TO GROW – Lydia Forson Backs Sarkodie On Unprofessionalism In The Media

Actress and activist, Lydia Forson has sided with Ghanaian musician Sarkodie in response to some media players’ lack of professionalism in the field

Rapper Sarkodie and DJ Slime got into an argument over the weekend following Slime’s remark on how some Ghanaian media insult artists.

It is easy for somebody to sit on the radio and say Shatta Wale hasn’t done this, and Sarkodie hasn’t done that. I’ve not said we the artists don’t have work to do. But If you’ve been on the radio in Ghana for close to 20 years and have not moved on to Choice or BBC, I don’t think you have the moral right to talk about artists in Ghana who have not gone International.

“It was Komla Dumor who made me get my first BBC Interview because he’s Ghanaian he gave me the opportunity. Abrantie made me play indigo because he’s Ghanaian and has access so he put me on. So the whole ecosystem is you people should move not only artistes,” he said in an interview.

Lydia Forson supported Sarkodie and cautioned the media to be careful about how they discredit others, not only musicians, because one cannot be inactive in life and tell another to move.

“You can’t be marching at the same spot and asking the person next to you why they haven’t moved. I think Sark just meant the media should hold themselves to the same standard they hold artists to. I mean it doesn’t have to be BBC or CNN, but you need to equally grow…”
