KNUST: DANIEL TUFFOUR REMANDED FOR TWO WEEKS OVER JOANA YABANI’S ALLEGED MURDER
Daniel Tuffour has been ordered by the Kumasi District Court 2 to remain in police custody for a period of two weeks.
This decision is related to the death of Joana Yabani, who was a final-year student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
At 21 years old, Daniel appeared in court on Friday, February 28, 2025.
He had been arrested by police the day before, after Joana, a Biological Science student, sadly passed away.
The court decided to keep him in custody to assist with the ongoing investigation.
video posted on Angel TV’s Facebook page captured Daniel wearing a nose mask as police quickly led him away following the court proceedings.
That same day, February 28, KNUST released a statement saying that during their investigation, they discovered additional belongings of Joana Deladem Yabani behind Flint Hostel.
The university also mentioned that the next court hearing is scheduled for March 17, 2025.
“Further developments have emerged in the ongoing investigation into the tragic death of Joana Deladem Yabani, shedding more light on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Police and the University Security Services have successfully retrieved the laptop and mobile phone belonging to Joana Deladem Yabani. These items were discovered hidden behind the Flint Hostel, a location identified through CCTV footage from the hostel’s security surveillance system.
Investigators have secured crucial evidence to aid in the prosecution process.
Following the retrieval of these belongings, the suspect in custody was arraigned before the Circuit Court at Asafo today.
The court has remanded the suspect into custody, with the next hearing scheduled for 17th March 2025. The Ghana Police Service and authorities in KNUST will continue to work diligently to ensure justice is served.
