KWAKU MANU FIRES BACK AT OKATAKYIE AFRIFA OVER ALLEGED THREATS AND FINANCIAL CLAIMS
Ghanaian actor and media personality Kwaku Manu has publicly responded to broadcaster Okatakyie Afrifa following heated accusations and threats made during a recent episode of Afrifa’s For The Records show.
The controversy ignited when Okatakyie Afrifa accused Kwaku Manu of seeking financial favours from prominent Ghanaian businessmen, notably Ibrahim Mahama. Afrifa further threatened to expose what he described as attempts by the Kumawood actor to curry favour with wealthy figures.
This feud gained momentum after Kwaku Manu publicly appealed to former President John Dramani Mahama to implement tighter regulations on media freedom, specifically targeting individuals like Twene Jonas, whose media presence has been characterized by aggressive verbal attacks on high-profile personalities.
Okatakyie Afrifa, known for his staunch advocacy of free speech and criticism of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), rejected Manu’s call, triggering a war of words between the two.
In a defiant response video, Kwaku Manu dismissed Afrifa’s threats, saying, “Where I’m from, you can’t threaten or warn me. You’re not God. I see you to be a spoiled child who lacked discipline growing up.”
Manu criticized Afrifa’s public image as misleading, accusing him of emotional manipulation driven by newfound fame. “You’re nobody. You’re an emotional blackmailer,” he asserted.
The actor also took a pointed jab at Afrifa’s political and financial connections, suggesting a reliance on external funding. “I don’t rely on women, unlike you, whose new studio was funded by a woman and the party,” Manu said, implicitly referring to Afrifa’s alleged ties with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
