KWAKU MANU URGES PRESIDENT MAHAMA TO JAIL THOSE WHO INSULT PUBLIC FIGURES ONLINE

Renowned Ghanaian actor Kwaku Manu has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to introduce strict legislation to curb the rising trend of online insults against prominent personalities in Ghana.

Speaking during a video shared on his Instagram page on May 26, 2025, while vacationing in the United States, Manu lauded the positive economic developments under Mahama’s administration, particularly the appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against the US dollar.

However, he expressed deep concern over the rampant disrespect and verbal attacks on social media targeting national figures such as President Mahama himself, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and notable businessmen including Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong, and Ibrahim Mahama.

“There should be a law to address this issue. Some people on social media insult prominent personalities without any regard. These ill-mannered and undisciplined individuals should face a one-year jail sentence for each insult,” Manu asserted.
