MINORITY DEMANDS PROBE INTO MEDICAL CREDENTIALS OF ANN SANSA DALY

The Minority Caucus in Ghana’s Parliament has issued a stern one-week ultimatum to the Ghana Medical and Dental Council (GMDC) to clarify the medical registration status of Dr. Ann Sansa Daly.

This demand follows President John Dramani Mahama’s recent revocation of Dr. Daly’s appointment to the Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), amid growing public concerns about her professional qualifications and licensing.

In an official letter signed by Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie, Ranking Member of the Health Committee, the Minority Caucus has urged the GMDC to collaborate with its U.S. counterparts to verify whether Dr. Daly is listed as a certified medical practitioner in the United States.

The Minority seeks clear answers on three key issues:

  • Whether Dr. Ann Sansa Daly is currently registered and licensed by the GMDC to practise medicine in Ghana.

  • Whether she has ever been registered with the GMDC in any capacity, including temporary or permanent registration.

  • Whether GMDC regulations allow unregistered individuals to publicly present themselves as medical doctors or dispense medical advice in Ghana.

The Minority Caucus stated that their inquiry aims to safeguard public interest, uphold professional standards, and maintain trust in Ghana’s healthcare system.

As this issue unfolds, the GMDC is expected to respond within the stipulated timeframe, providing clarity on Dr. Daly’s registration and the wider implications for healthcare governance in Ghana.
