MTN Hitmaker winner, OV also called Okailey Verse has revealed that her new song, “Shush,” is about the mental illness she experienced after leaving Stonebwoy’s Burniton Music.
OV claims that after she severely parted ways with Stonebwoy’s record company, she developed a mental illness called psychotic episodes that had an impact on her mental well-being.
OV made headlines a few years ago for having an odd appearance and seemed melancholy. Many people blamed her drug use for her messy appearance. The singer has already revealed the cause of her messy appearance.
“It was after the exit. It was something that hit me very hard. It got me thinking, ‘Am I not enough? It started giving me doubts about deserving to be on a label. It put me through some state that I will not wish for my enemy. It put me through a lot. I was depressed. It got to a point I stayed away from everybody.”
OV has disclosed that her new song speaks about the betrayal and the mental issues she went through. She said: “Shush is an emotional tune. It is very deep and personal to me. It is deep and self-explanatory because, at that time, my mind was all over the place. It was crazy.”
“I kept singing until I got better. I couldn’t even eat unless it was liquid. At that point, I had gotten a second relapse. So, my friend came over to where I was confined and helped me compose several songs that were supposed to be on my EP. But then I could not release it.”
“The day he came over, he told me that the texts I had written in the past that did not make sense. So I read and explained to him that that was what I was seeing and hearing.”
