NATIONAL SECURITY WITHDRAWS FROM WONTUMI’S HOME AFTER STANDOFF WITH SUPPORTERS
A group of National Security agents that surrounded the home of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) known as Chairman Wontumi, at Paraku Estate this morning, has retreated after a heated clash with his supporters.
The operation, which commenced early Friday morning, involved a joint team of police officers and National Security agents raiding Wontumi’s residence, allegedly to carry out a search warrant.
Although Joy News obtained a copy of the search warrant, the precise motives for the raid are still unknown.
Previous claims indicated that Chairman Wontumi could have been under house arrest, though his location during the initial operation was not verified.
The arrival of the security team swiftly attracted a sizable gathering of Chairman Wontumi’s backers along with numerous high-ranking NPP officials from the area, who assembled at the location in reaction to the developing event.
The standoff intensified into a stressful confrontation, eventually resulting in the retreat of the security personnel.
