NO GHANA CARD, NO NATIONAL SERVICE REGISTRATION – National Service Authority Sets New Requirement

The National Service Authority (NSA) has set a new requirement for graduates who want to register for national service: they must have a Ghana Card.

This measure aims to eliminate fake names from the NSA payroll.

Mr. Felix Gyamfi, who is the Acting Director-General of the NSA, shared this policy during a press conference held in Accra on Thursday. He made it clear that registration will only be possible for individuals possessing a valid Ghana Card.

“If you do not have a valid Ghana Card ID, you will not be allowed into our system,” he emphasised.

He said this step is part of several efforts to address fake entries on the NSA payroll.

“… If you are a prospective graduate and do not have a valid Ghana Card to register, you will not be allowed to do national service. So, these are some of the pathways to take away the ghost names,” he noted.

Mr. Gyamfi pointed to poor leadership as the reason for the ongoing issue of “ghost names,” criticizing former managers for not putting effective checks and rules in place.

“… This was a leadership problem. The checks that should have been in place to protect taxpayers’ money were not implemented,” he said.
