Ghanaian Award-winning rapper, Obrafuo has expressed worry about music being produced in recent times.
He says, unlike his generation when music was theme-driven, music produced now is beat-driven.
Obrafuor is of the view that this has led to the low quality in content of music produced in recent times.
“Our music carried substance when we were in vogue, however, these days music is beat-driven. Our time music was theme-driven, you choose a theme and you make music around it. Reggie Rockstone did “y3 bounce wo visa ne ya” a song that talks about the experience that you go through at the embassy when you’re bounced. Ad3n was all about life, the hassle we go through every day,”he told BBC Pidgin.
He further indicated that it took a lot of research to make him a different artiste compared to his contemporaries.
“After I dropped Pae Mu Ka I wanted to be different from my contemporaries so I had to dig deep. It meant that I go into proverbs. If you listen to my song I don’t want you to just dance and go away, I want you to pick something,” he said.
