The Ashanti Region office of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Krofrom in the Kumasi metropolis has been reportedly locked up by the owner of the property.
The party’s daily activities at the office have since been halted due to the closure.
According to some residents, the landlady of the facility evicted the ruling NPP from the office about 3 weeks ago.
It will be recalled that the landlady of the facility in November 2021 threatened to close down the office over unpaid rent.
She said the NPP Ashanti Region branch headed by Bernard Antwi Bosiako, well known as Chairman Wontumi, had refused to pay her 3-year rent arrears of an amount of GH¢36,000.
According to myjoyonline, the Council of elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region claims the party’s stronghold has weakened due to the failure of regional executives to respect structures.
The recent NPP election for polling station executives was characterised by conflicts and controversies in some constituencies in the Ashanti region.
Subin, Akrofoum, Bosomefreho, Bantama, Kumawu and other constituencies recorded conflicts during the polls.
