Gifty Klenam has identified a lack of responsiveness as a key factor in her choice to exit the party, asserting that the NPP leadership did not heed even their own members.
During an interview on Joy Prime, which was observed by MyNewsGh, Klenam was questioned about the NPP’s lackluster showing in the recent election.
Although she was reluctant to elaborate, she remarked that one of the party’s major shortcomings was its failure to heed concerns from the grassroots level.
“I don’t know whether I should speak to this matter, especially now that I’m no longer with them,” she said. “But I think they were not listening—not even to their own party members.”
Although she chose to back the NDC in the previous election, Klenam conveyed her appreciation to the NPP for the opportunities she had in the past.
“I am grateful to the NPP, and I don’t want to speak ill of them. But clearly, based on what you are asking, it shows that I was not happy within the party,” she admitted.
