OUTRAGE AS 18-YEAR-OLD BOY IMPREGNATES 10 GIRLS IN ANAMBRA, NIGERIA

There is widespread uproar in Anambra State after an 18-year-old boy reportedly impregnated ten girls, sparking concern from state authorities and residents over what has been described as a “disturbing pattern of recklessness.”

The shocking revelation was made by the Anambra State Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. Ify Obinabo, in a live social media broadcast on Tuesday. According to her, the case is unlike anything her office has encountered and requires urgent public intervention.

“This matter is beyond my capacity. I need advice from the public. Is this a spiritual issue?” she asked in a visibly concerned tone.

Hon. Obinabo disclosed that the teenager, who was sent to serve as an apprentice under a business owner, impregnated his master’s daughter and salesgirl within the first three months of his training. Following the incident, he was dismissed and returned to his village where he went on to impregnate eight more girls in just two months.

The boy’s mother, overwhelmed by the growing number of pregnant girls linked to her son, reportedly brought the case to the commissioner’s office.

“The mother came to me saying she now dreads the sight of any young girl approaching her house. Her heart skips anytime she sees one. She said, ‘Please help me, I can’t take this anymore,’” Obinabo narrated.

During an inquiry into how he managed to lure the girls, the boy allegedly told the commissioner, “I just tell them I love them and will marry them when I become rich.”

As outrage mounts on social media and in local communities, Obinabo has called for urgent support from religious leaders, psychologists, and child welfare experts to address what many are calling both a moral crisis and a public health concern.

The situation has ignited fierce debate in Anambra and beyond, with calls for psychological evaluation, rehabilitation, and possibly legal action to be taken not just for the boy, but also to safeguard the young girls and prevent a repeat of such occurrences.
