PRESIDENT JOHN MAHAMA WINS PRAISE AFTER SAVING WOMAN FROM FALLING OFF STAGE AT GHANA–ZAMBIA DIALOGUE
Quick reflexes during Lusaka business event spark admiration and light-hearted reactions online

President John Dramani Mahama has earned widespread praise after swiftly preventing a woman from falling off a stage during the Ghana–Zambia Business Dialogue in Lusaka, in a moment that has since gone viral on social media.
The incident occurred at the close of the dialogue, as the woman climbed onto the stage to join President Mahama and other dignitaries for a group photograph. In a video widely circulated online, the President is seen quickly reaching out to steady her, averting what could have been an embarrassing fall in front of delegates and guests.
Social media users reacted enthusiastically to the clip, commending the President’s alertness and agility. On Facebook, one user wrote, “The Commander doesn’t just wear the uniform, he dey form,” while another jokingly remarked, “He rescued Ghana, now rescued a Zambian. Very spiritual.”
Others expressed surprise at his swift response, with one commenter noting, “I didn’t expect him to react that fast,” while another said the moment “rewrites the narrative on leadership and presence.”
The Ghana–Zambia Business Dialogue formed part of President Mahama’s three-day state visit to Zambia from February 4 to 6, at the invitation of President Hakainde Hichilema. The visit was aimed at strengthening diplomatic, trade and investment relations between the two countries.
During the dialogue, President Mahama urged Ghana and Zambia to move beyond political goodwill and pursue concrete economic partnerships grounded in their historical ties and shared development goals.
Earlier in the day, the two countries signed several memoranda of understanding, including a bilateral air services agreement to facilitate direct flights and a visa waiver agreement to ease travel for citizens of both nations.
While the visit focused on high-level economic and diplomatic engagements, the brief but human moment on stage captured public attention, with many describing it as a reminder that leadership is often reflected in small, instinctive acts of care and attentiveness.
