SAVE THE JUDICIARY DEMO: SCORES OF PROTESTERS GATHER AT THE FRONTAGE OF THE SUPREME COURT

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) and other opposition political parties will take to the streets of Accra today to protest the Chief Justice’s suspension.

The opposing political parties believe that the president ought to restore the Chief Justice, who has been suspended due to trivial petitions filed against her.

For them, the choice to oust the Chief Justice is deliberate and aims to fulfil a campaign commitment to the base of the National Democratic Congress.

The suspension came after a prima facie case was established due to three separate petitions being submitted requesting her removal.

Nevertheless, the political parties concerned have fervently criticised the decision, labelling it a clear assault on the judiciary’s independence.

According to videos posted on social media, numerous supporters are gathering at the entrance of the Supreme Court, where the protest is anticipated to begin to emphasise the necessity for the president to restore the Chief Justice.
