SNAPCHAT QUEEN, DULCIE BOATENG ESCAPES ARREST AFTER ALLEGEDLY SELLING ‘UNREGISTERED PRODUCTS’ AT PORIAL PITCH FAIR

On Saturday, April 20, 2024, there was a severe traffic jam on a portion of the N1 Highway in Accra, forcing commuters from Lapaz to Spintex to wait in slow-moving traffic.

Since many vehicles were unable to determine the precise source of the traffic jam, they were forced to take detours in order to reach their destinations.

The events that gave rise to the current situation occurred near the Accra Mall, where hundreds of people attended a sales gathering known as Porials Pitch.

Dulcie Boateng, a staunch Snapchat user known as the “Queen of Snapchat,” planned it with a few partners mainly to meet with customers to whom they typically sell body-enhancing items online.

Internet users gave Dulcie a lot of credit for her ability to attract so many attendees and vendors without formally announcing the event.

Not everything was perfect, though, as a few of her associates were detained for selling unregistered goods and violating health laws.

A source close to the group that started the arrests said that the majority of the goods being sold at the fair were not properly registered with the appropriate state authorities.

According to the source, police worked with the Pharmacy Council of Ghana and the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to apprehend approximately twelve of the organizers.

Boric acid suppository, Bootyzone butt enlargement, weight gain syrups, flat tummy potion, and soaps were among the products the police confiscated.

According to credible sources, the detained individuals were also brought to the Accra Central Police Station, where their statements were obtained, before being freed to return to the station at a later time.

They could be charged with things like advertising FDA-unapproved items and selling unapproved soaps and remedies for upset stomachs.

The first accusation violates the Health Professionals Regulatory Bodies Act of 2013, but the second accusation violates FDA guidelines regarding the promotion of unregistered products.
