STATE OF THE NATION ADDRESS: GHANA IS NOT BROKE — Akufo Addo

Outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has asserted that contrary to statements by many, particularly the opposition National Democratic Congress, Ghana is in dire financial straits, and the nation is quite viable.

The President revealed this during his last State of the Nation address in Parliament on January 3, 2024.

He asserts that he is transferring the country to the new government with $8 billion in international reserves.

He additionally mentioned that Ghana is experiencing economic growth, and the nation has reverted to pre-COVID levels, suggesting that a country growing at this rate cannot be considered poor.

He said;

“Mr Speaker, Ghana is not broke, contrary to what the propagandists are saying. We are handing over a country with international reserves worth $8billion”.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will step down on January 7, 2024, and will transfer power to John Dramani Mahama, who is set to assume the presidency for a second term following his initial tenure.
