The rumor that the driver involved in his daughter’s death has been charged has been refuted by Nana Opoku Kwarteng, the late dancehall star Ebony Reigns’ father.
Over the weekend, a few news websites stated that Okoh Pinehas Chartey, the driver, had been charged with the death of the late Ebony.
In a phone chat with Emmanuel Agyeman (Braa Emma) on the Onua FM Anigye Mmre entertainment show, Nana Opoku Kwarteng responded to the news by refuting the claim. Additionally, he said that the matter has not yet been set up before the court.
“The issue has not yet been to court, and I have not heard anything of the sort,” he said.
He further asserts that the motorist was operating without a valid license at the time of the collision. But nothing has been done to address it.
“Some time back, radio personality Adakabre Frimpong Manso told me that the guy was driving without a driver’s license, and I have not heard anything concerning that development,” he concluded.
Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, known on stage as Ebony Reigns, was a Ghanaian dancehall/Afrobeats artist popular for her hit songs Poison, Maame Hwe, Kupe and more. She was discovered by Bullet, formerly of Ruff n Smooth fame.
