THINKING WEED WILL IMPROVE YOUR VOICE IS FOOLISHNESS – Highlife Singer, Nana Fynn

Nana Fynn

Ghanaian musician, Nana Fynn, who also goes by the name 2Lock, has expressed that the belief that smoking marijuana, commonly referred to as ‘weed,’ can enhance one’s voice is ‘nonsense.’

During an Accra FM interview on July 7, 2024, Nana Fynn clarified misunderstandings about vocal performance.

He said that a physical link existed between the ear and the throat, noting that even though some people have naturally nice voices, their singing could be affected by a lack of proper connection.

Nana Fynn strongly dismissed the notion that substance use, particularly marijuana, could enhance vocal capabilities, saying “If you do not train your voice, even if you take weed every day, you would not be able to sing well. Thinking weed will make your voice better is foolish thinking.”

He emphasized the importance of confidence in singing, suggesting that individuals who use marijuana could be doing so due to a lack of confidence.

Nana Fynn discussed additional myths about voice training. He verified that bananas have a positive effect on removing mucus from the throat, which can benefit singers.

Nevertheless, he cautioned about speaking right after drinking cold water, as it could harm the quality of the voice.

Nana Fynn Acquah Harrison gained popularity after the release of his first album ‘Ankwansema’ in 2000 and has gone on to launch numerous hit albums, winning several Ghana Music Awards.

In addition to his music career, he has also made contributions to gospel music, runs a studio and a barber shop, and takes pleasure in football, snooker, and reading historical and religious texts.
