“WE ARE SUFFERING” AMIDST MUSIC INDUSTRY STRUGGLES – Ghanaian Artiste Bosom Pyung Opens Up

Ghanaian artiste Bosom Pyung has candidly spoken about the hardships faced by musicians in the country, emphasizing the struggles that many artists endure despite their talents. In a heartfelt message delivered in Twi and translated into English, Bosom addressed fellow musicians and critics alike.

Responding to comments from media personality Kwadwo Sheldon, Bosom recounted his journey and frustrations. “You, Kwadwo Sheldon, you have your big head, but when you wake up, you don’t hype me. Sheldon, you’re a real artiste in the game,” he remarked, urging a sense of respect within the creative community.

Bosom further challenged calls for him to return to Ghana from abroad, reminding critics of his long-standing career in the country where, despite his efforts, he felt overlooked. “Before you can become a real artiste, you say I should come to Ghana. Was it not in Ghana that I was doing music for a long period of time but nobody minded me? Now that I am outside the country, you want me to come back? Don’t get me wrong,” he stated.

He also shared his initial unfamiliarity with gospel singer Diana Hamilton, noting how he only recognized her after she won the “Most Popular Song of the Year” award, an accolade he believed his song “Atta Adwoa” deserved instead. Nonetheless, he acknowledged her talent and praised her gospel contributions, showing sportsmanship in the competitive music scene.

Reflecting on his career since 2020, Bosom Pyung lamented the challenges faced by Ghanaian artistes, urging unity and discouraging rivalry. “Ghanaian artists are suffering. Don’t let anyone flex you because we are all the same,” he said.

Despite the difficulties, Bosom conveyed gratitude for his current stability, revealing, “I can now pay my rent and light bills,” underscoring that success is still achievable despite industry hardships.
