WhatsApp has broken, with users unable to send or receive messages.
The world’s most popular messaging app appears to have stopped working, potentially affecting billions of users.
The app would allow people to type messages to friends and then press send. But they then became stuck, never actually delivering.
WhatsApp seems to be facing a glitch as a number of users are reporting issues with sending and receiving texts on the app. Downdetector, a website that tracks online outages across the globe, has shown a sharp spike in the number of users reporting WhatsApp’s outage.
More than 12,000 reports were posted within half an hour, according to the service status website Down Detector.
Many people have complained on social media that they cannot send or receive messages. WhatsApp has about two billion global active users.
It is one of the most popular messaging platforms in the UK.
