WHERE IS OFORI-ATTA, YOU PROMISED TO PRODUCED HIM? – Majority Leader Ayariga Queries Afenyo Markin
Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has challenged Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin regarding the persistent absence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who has not appeared at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for inquiries related to alleged corruption offences.
Afenyo-Markin had previously promised Parliament that Ofori-Atta would come back to Ghana by May 2025, after a medical evaluation overseas.
As of June 3, 2025, a confirmed return has still not occurred, leading Ayariga to charge the Minority Leader with breaking his promises.
During a speech in Parliament on Tuesday, June 3, Mahama Ayariga also condemned the Minority caucus for their inconsistent stance, pointing out their lack of genuine support at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) during the recent arrest of NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi.
“He promised this House that he would bring Ken Ofori-Atta in May; we are in June, where is Ken Ofori-Atta? He came to this House and made a promise. Mr. Speaker, he should not be heard in this House because when he makes promises, he cannot fulfil them. When we make promises, you have to fulfil them,” he said.
