WHY I STOPPED DOING FREESTYLES – Sarkodie Spills

Celebrated Ghanaian rapper and music executive, Michael Owusu Addo populalrly called Sarkodie has finally opened up on why he stopped dropping heavy bars on random beats in freestyle sessions.

The Ghana rapper who is officially Africa’s most decorated rapper and by far the best on the continent intimated that growth and maturity have taught him to analyze things more carefully before jumping on a trend.

He made this known in an interview with City FM in Nigeria. He is quoted as saying;

“Do you know how hard it is to rap for ten years without repeating your self? I was a type of guy who use to write lyrics as soon as soon as I hear beat, now i take my time to write them. Is not about me getting weak, but I love perfection. The more I grow, the more I must take my time to do good music.”

He continued,

“After I have been in the rap music for over ten years, I have stop making freestyles on beat, because I don’t want to repeat any of my lyrics in my songs again.”
