‘YEAR OF RETURN’ WAS A SUCCESS, LET’S COMMEND GOVERNMENT – A Plus

Political and entertainment pundit, Kwame A Plus has called for applause for the ‘Year of Return’ initiative, which was initiated by the NPP-led administration in 2019.

A Plus, known for criticizing the government, praised the government’s work in strengthening the tourism sector through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture.

During the June 29, 2024, episode of United Showbiz on UTV with host MzGee, it was mentioned that even though the ministry was established during former President Mahama’s term, the current NPP government acknowledges its importance and is still backing its development.

He believes that the initiatives ‘December in Ghana’ and ‘Year of Return’ have been a major success and have turned Ghana into a popular tourist spot, even though they were not part of President Nana Addo’s initial plans.

“If you look at the work the government has put into the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

“Some people say that Mahama initiated that ministry, but it seems the NPP government saw its importance, or else they would have removed it.

“Even though the ‘December in Ghana and Year of Return initiatives were not part of Nana Addo’s promises, the work he did was very good,” he said.

A Plus also mentioned the advantages of the programs, such as the financial gains and their influence on the country’s creative arts industry.

He encouraged the public to recognize and praise the ministry for its remarkable efforts in implementing these initiatives, which he believes have improved Ghana’s cultural and economic environment.

“Look at its impact, it made Ghana a popular tourist destination, and the benefits to the economy were very good, especially the exchange rates. And we are still seeing the positive effects till now,” he said.
