Madam Kate Gyamfuah, the National Women Organiser for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged those involved in illegal mining to stop engaging in the activity, which she has labeled as evil.
She claims that their actions are motivated by a desire for wealth, which is undermining the work of those who are involved in legitimate mining operations.
Kate Gyamfuah, who has been mining for 32 years, expressed surprise that clean water is now being ruined to cater to the frivolous desires of certain individuals.
I will urge them to put a stop to it because their activities are even affecting people engaged in proper mining,” she said on Adom FM.
Nevertheless, currently, certain individuals have placed their machines in the water and are engaging in mining activities there because of their greed.
Adding that “we are not saying we are coming to take food from your mouth. All the people are saying is that the way you are mining is not the best and not in the best interest of the country so you need to have proper ways of mining”.
I don't do galamsey. I do proper mining. I have been mining for 32 years and have not seen the level of destruction like in recent times due to greed – Kate Gyamfua(NPP National Women Organizer) #DwasoNsem#FreeTheCitzens Okponglo #FreeTheCitizensNow #StopGalamseyNow pic.twitter.com/OSyPJb6ZOV
