Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has promised that even if they lose the 2024 election, the party will persist. During a public address at his home on Sunday, December 8, the Vice President conveyed his pride in his campaign team and expressed gratitude to the NPP for their steadfast support.
He promised NPP supporters that, though the result was disheartening, the party would reorganize and come back even stronger in the future.
The Vice President promised that the NPP would take a positive stance as the opposition, committing to facilitate a smooth transition while rigorously examining government actions and policies for the sake of the country.
Dr. Bawumia conveyed his sincere appreciation to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, his family, campaign team, running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, and supporters nationwide for their support and encouragement during his political journey.
He paused to praise traditional leaders, religious figures, security forces, and the press for their contributions to a peaceful electoral process.
“We put our best foot forward in the contest, explaining our policies and programs. However, it is sometimes the case that the voter would have other ideas,” Dr. Bawumia remarked, acknowledging the election results.
“I assure you that we will regroup and come back even stronger. We may have lost the battle, but not the war,” he said.
“We will not be a disruptive opposition,” he emphasized.
