ONE DEAD, 37 INJURED IN ACCIDENT ON ACCRA-KUMASI HIGHWAY AT MANKRONG
Bus-truck collision leaves multiple casualties; Fire Service responds swiftly, extricates deceased and assists injured.

One person has been confirmed dead and 37 others injured following a serious collision between a 40-seater bus and a truck at Mankrong on the busy Accra–Kumasi Highway on Sunday, January 11.
The accident involved a Zhong Tong bus with registration AS 7022-21 and a Man Diesel truck registered GW 3969-U. According to eyewitness accounts, the bus was traveling at high speed when it crashed into the truck, causing extensive damage to the front of the bus while the truck sustained minor damage.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) rescue team from Suhum Municipal Fire Station was dispatched at 6:59 am and arrived at the scene within eight minutes. Firefighters extricated the deceased from the wreckage and assisted 37 injured persons 21 males and 17 females, some of whom had already been transported to Suhum Government Hospital for treatment. The occupants of the truck escaped unharmed.
The GNFS crew cleared the scene, restored traffic flow, and ensured the safety of other road users before concluding operations at 8:57 am and returning to base at 9:52 am. The Service reaffirmed its commitment to rapid and professional emergency response in such incidents.
