Ghanaian social media sensation Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum, who gained national attention for her marathon singathon attempt in December 2023, has announced she has been awarded a scholarship to study music abroad.
The news broke through a celebratory video posted on her social media platforms, captioned: “See who just got a scholarship into an international music school!” In the clip, the elated singer is seen praising God and expressing gratitude for the opportunity.
While Asantewaa did not disclose the name of the institution or the destination country, this development comes just months after her highly-publicized attempt to break the Guinness World Record for longest singing marathon during the 2023 and 2024 Christmas season. Though she didn’t secure the record, her 126-hour, 52-minute effort at the Akwaaba Village in Accra captured the nation’s support and showcased her vocal endurance and in Kumasi respectively.
