Women in relationships have received a stern warning from Kafui Danku not to act as their boyfriends’ maids.
Her blunt advice was that such women are less likely to be taken seriously by men, and if they feel taken for granted, they may even decide to terminate the relationship.
Men are more attracted to women who keep their independence and uniqueness, Kafui Danku adds, thus women should avoid becoming doormats. She draws attention to the possibility that some men could prefer devoting time and resources to women who are less accessible or accommodating.
Instead, the well-known actress counsels women to concentrate on their value and make sure that men commit their resources—both time and money—to the relationship.
Women may protect their self-respect and have something to show for their efforts if the relationship ends by urging men to invest time and money in them.
“Before he gets what he wants, he must work for it. Men only stay when they invest their money and their time. Why would he pamper you if he doesn’t spend his money or time, and you give him what he wants so quickly? Why do you go and cook and clean? Are you his maid? If you are a wife, then, of course, you are taking care of your home. But if he hasn’t married you, why should he marry you when you do all these things? “
Kafui Danku is adamant that men should make an effort and strive to have the relationships they want. Why should women effortlessly satisfy a man’s demands if he doesn’t show genuine commitment and investment, she wonders.
She advises ladies to wait until the male has made the decision to get married before assuming all the typical roles of a wife.
