CONSTITUTIONAL REVIEW COMMITTEE TO PRESENT FINAL REPORT TO PRESIDENT MAHAMA ON DEC. 22

The committee, led by Prof. H. Kwesi Prempeh, has been gathering national feedback on potential amendments to Ghana’s 1992 Constitution for months.

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the Constitutional Review Committee will present its final report to him on Monday, December 22, 2025, following months of nationwide consultations on possible amendments to the 1992 Constitution.

During a meeting with the National Peace Council at Jubilee House on Wednesday, December 10, the President revealed that the committee, chaired by Prof. H. Kwesi Prempeh, briefed him three weeks ago on its preliminary findings, which he described as “quite interesting.”

“They intend to present the final results on December 22. Once the final report is presented, we will make it known to the rest of the nation,” President Mahama stated.

The committee has been collecting input from various stakeholders and the public on proposed changes to several constitutional provisions, as part of efforts to ensure the foundational law remains responsive to contemporary governance and social needs.

In the same engagement, the President also addressed ongoing discussions about the rights of Muslim students in mission schools, emphasizing the importance of religious tolerance and affirming that existing agreements for faith-based schools already include provisions for accommodating diverse religious practices. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring fairness and dignity for all students, regardless of religious background.
