GHANA COACH OTTO ADDO NAMES ENGLAND AS FAVOURITES IN 2026 WORLD CUP GROUP L
The Black Stars were drawn alongside England, Croatia, and Panama for next year’s tournament, with Ghana opening their campaign against Panama on June 17.

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has identified England as the team to beat in Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but insists his side will approach each match with equal focus and determination.
Ghana was drawn alongside England, Croatia, and Panama during the official draw held on Friday, December 5, at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in the United States.
“For sure, England is the favourite in that group,” Addo told the Ghana Football Association website. “But for me as a coach, to be honest, I’m looking at each and every game equally. Very important for us that we don’t underrate any team.”
England were runners-up in the 2018 World Cup, while Croatia reached the semi-finals in 2022. Panama will be making only their second appearance in the tournament’s history.
Ghana will begin their campaign against Panama on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27. The Black Stars have been eliminated at the group stage in their last two World Cup appearances in 2014 and 2022.
Addo’s remarks set a tone of cautious optimism as Ghana prepares to navigate a challenging group in next year’s global showpiece.
