Dr. Kwabena Duffour, the proprietor of Excellence In Broadcasting (EIB) Network, argues that he is not required to pay his staff for nine months of work.
In an exclusive interview with Accra-based Asaase Radio on Thursday, July 7, the former Bank of Ghana Governor claimed that his media owed its employees “arrears of salary” rather than nine months’ worth of pay.
The lawmaker added that the allegations that he is unable to pay his employees but is instead funding NDC politics are inaccurate and were made in an effort to score quick political points. He referred to it as propaganda.
“I have so many companies. I have not had any information that they are not paying themselves … EIB has been there for how many years? For seven to eight years, why will the workers be there and not be treated well?”
“I don’t believe that, it is propaganda, and if I want to support the grassroots of my party (NDC ) what is wrong with that? Do you know what they go through? Go and see what they are going through in the rural areas …” he said.
Dr. Duffuor also denied claims that any of the workers who took part in a sit-down strike in protest of wage arrears had been sacked.
The businessman concluded by saying, “They [EIB] have been paying them since January, so there is no issue. They are speaking of past due amounts. Therefore, management is taking care of the issue. Salary arrears and non-payment
