“NIGERIANS DON’T TREAT US LIKE CELEBRITIES WHEN WE GO THERE” – Yaw Tog

Sensational Ghanaian rapper, Thorsten Owusu Gyminah professionally called Yaw Tog, has shared his experience in Nigeria after traveling to the country for the first time.

The 8th edition of the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) took place on December 12th, 2021.

Speaking about the harassment he and his entourage received while in Nigeria for the AFRIMMA Awards, Yaw Tog said Nigerians don’t treat Ghanaian artistes like celebrities.

According to the “Sore” hitmaker, Nigerians were cruel to him, his female colleague Gyakie, and his friend Kofi Jamar, among other people. In his statement, he said that they had been antagonized and that they were not acknowledged as superstars in their own nation.

When it comes to Ghanaian artists, Nigerians don’t treat you as one of their top artists; instead, they treat your like an ordinary person.

“You can’t expect to be treated like Davido or Burna Boy there,” he told Y 107.9 FM’s Kojo Manuel during the ‘Dryve of your Lyfe’.

“When we got there, they treated us differently; everything was normal, as opposed to Ghana, where I would have received some special attention,” says the author. “Things were tough out there,” he said.
