Vlogger, Code Micky has defended his choice to advocate for sports betting, emphasizing that it may be able to help young people who are struggling financially.
In an interview with The Delay Show, Micky stated that the nation’s ongoing economic crisis annoys young people from low-income backgrounds and that betting appears to offer a means of escape; for this reason, he decided to support the industry and partake in it personally.
“The hardship is real; so, when there’s a premier league match, it’s a solace point for the youth,” he said. “I’m a street boy and the video content I produce is for the people. It’s not for my benefit. We’re all feeling the heat.”
“When everyone is financially sound, it’s helpful. Why do you think a lot of betting companies are springing up? It’s because there are no options.”
Politicians, such as Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the majority leader of Ghana’s parliament, have expressed worry over the issue of betting, claiming that it encourages youth laziness.
