Great Ampong has extended a full apology to President John Dramani Mahama for making jabs at him in a song he wrote for the NPP.
In the 2024 general elections, Great Ampong, a devoted backer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), wrote a song for their candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, along with his running mate, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, often referred to as NAPO.
The song’s lyrics praised the NPP and motivated supporters to cast their votes for them in the upcoming elections. Ampong also gave multiple interviews in which he asserted strongly that he cherished the NPP and wrote the song of his own accord.
This occurred after he was charged with accepting a large sum of money from Dr. Bawumia to support his campaign and create the song. He rejected the claims, asserting that the NPP has accomplished much for Ghana in contrast to the NDC.
In a surprising twist, the NDC led by John Dramani Mahama emerged victorious in the elections, causing fear and anxiety among supporters of the NPP.
To avoid falling out of favor with John Dramani Mahama, Ampong chose to apologize to him in a recent interview.
He clarified that he was misinterpreted and inaccurately cited.
