Celebrated Ghanaian journalist and broadcaster, Nana Aba Anamoah has warned people to stop having the idea that every wealthy Ghanaian obtained their wealth by dubious means.
Nana Aba Anamoah believes that many Americans claim without providing any proof that a man’s financial success comes from illegal drug sales.
According to Nana Aba, while other males are also said to make money through sakawa, most women in the country also credit prostitution for their success.
Sakawa is a term used in Ghana to describe criminal activities that combine modern Internet fraud with traditional African rituals.
“When you make it as a guy in this nation, people blame it to sakawa or narcotics. You make it as a woman, you’re ashawo. People who do this are eternally locked in a snake pit. Wake up from the silliness and seek to make your life better too. God be with us all.”
