GHANA TOURISM REPLIES KIRANI AYAT OVER COPYRIGHT BREACH

The Ghana Tourism Authority responded to singer, Kirani Ayat’s tirade accusing the president of violating copyright.

The rapper had before claimed on Twitter that the president and the Ministry of Tourism had used his intellectual property without his permission.

The Tourism Ministry came under fire from Kirani Ayat for utilizing parts of his Guda music video to promote the #VisitGhana2022 campaign without his permission.

He claims that because he didn’t approve the use of his content by the Government of Ghana, he is expecting to be paid royalties that are owed to him.

In a recent development, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has released a statement in response to the musician’s accusations of copyright infringement.

In the statement released, Ghana Tourism Authority disclosed that the video footage was acquired from a creative agency three years ago and has been used several times for promotional purposes both locally and internationally. GTA is however yet to disclose the agency responsible for the video footage.
