DJ Azonto, a well-known Ghanaian Amapiano musician, who gained fame through his hit single “Fa Ne Fom,” has addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding his unconventional choice of clothing.
While acknowledging that it may not be widely accepted, he emphasized that it is his means of making a living.
Despite facing criticism for his fashion preferences, DJ Azonto made it clear in a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz that he has no intentions of altering his style. He firmly believes that it is an integral part of his identity and serves as a significant source of income for him.
“As an adult who is a husband and father of three kids, I know the merits and demerits of what I am doing. I can distinguish what is bad from good, so there is no cause for alarm,” he expressed.
DJ Azonto openly acknowledged that his family, including his wife and mother, are not entirely supportive of his fashion choices.
His mother, in particular, has expressed her desire for him to abandon female clothing and refrain from using handbags or wearing heels.
“On Mother’s Day, for instance, I went to my home town to see my mother and she said the only thing she would want me to do for her is to stop wearing female clothing. She also added that even if I don’t want to stop, I should stop using handbags and wearing heels. “I responded that if she wants to enjoy life by being well catered for, then I have to keep working and this is all part of it,” he disclosed.
However, despite their concerns, DJ Azonto explained that his family understands the importance of his work and the financial stability it provides. While they may not be thrilled with his decisions, they respect the fact that it is his career and livelihood.
“I used to wear a brassiere, but I stopped. The truth is that my entire family, including my wife, are not happy with the things I wear, but they want money, and this brings money,” DJ Azonto candidly shared.
