Gospel singer, Patience Nyarko has made allegations that certain celebrities participate in protests primarily for their personal gain and the financial incentives they receive from specific interest groups.
She expressed her concerns about the economic challenges facing the country, which have led to various protests, but questioned the sincerity of some of the protestors’ motivations.
During an interview on Property FM, which was broadcasted by ATL FM, the singer referred to certain protest-related injuries as “senseless,” particularly when the victims are receiving financial compensation.
“We are all here in Ghana when someone lost their sight through injury at protests and others had accidents which were quite senseless. When others are enriching themselves through protest and you join without knowing their intentions and after they give you just a sachet of water” she lamented.
She also noted that some individuals become the prominent figures in these protests, and she discouraged anyone from putting themselves in harm’s way.
Additionally, Patience Nyarko mentioned that some celebrities are paid by politicians to attend protests or to be the public faces of these movements.
Some people front these protests and so unknowingly if you attend and they spoil your eyes, you’d have wasted your eyes for nothing. Some celebrities go for protests due to their parochial interests and others also take money in order to attend these demonstrations”.
Gospel musician Patience Nyarko, best known for her song “W’afom Kwan,” has advised her fellow performers to put more emphasis on sharing the gospel than on showcasing their fashionable looks.
She stressed that since advancing Christ is the central message of a gospel artist, that should be your main priority.
