Outspoken social media influencer and activist, Efia Odo, has strongly criticized Ghanaians living abroad who frequently complain about the hardships they face in their host countries.
Her comments were prompted by a viral video in which a Ghanaian woman lamented about the high prices of food items in her diaspora location.
The video shed light on the challenges some Ghanaians face in accessing African food products abroad, particularly in light of the financial struggles of diaspora life.
This video ignited discussions about the realities of living abroad in pursuit of better opportunities and how it might not be as glamorous as expected. Some criticized the woman in the video, suggesting that if life was indeed challenging, she should consider returning to Ghana.
Efia Odo, in a passionate post on her social media platform, addressed Ghanaians living abroad who frequently express their grievances about the difficulties they encounter. She candidly recommended that if life in Europe or America appeared tough, they should contemplate returning to Ghana instead of continuously lamenting their circumstances.
“I never understand why some Ghanaians abroad are always complaining about the hardships they’re facing. Come back to Ghana if Europe or America is difficult. Like, shut up! You know damn well you’d rather be there than in Ghana,” she said.
Efia Odo’s comments also shed light on the current economic situation of Ghana and the debate of Ghanaians going abroad to escape the hardships currently being faced by many citizens in the country.
