An irate supporter of the senior national football team, the Black Stars, is in the grips of the Ivoirian police for physically attacking the head Coach of the team, Chris Hughton in Abidjan.
The attack, which happened at the hotel in which the coach is currently lodging, came after the Black Stars lost to Cape Verde in their first match in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations ( Afcon 2023).
But for the intervention of some Ghanaian diplomats, the coach could have been severely wounded by the attacker.
“…One member of the Ghanaian supporters in Abidjan has been arrested for an attack on coach Chris Hughton at the team’s hotel.
It took the intervention of some Ghanaian diplomats who were around to save the coach from the attack.
The unidentified man has been handed to the Ivorian Police,” Saddick Adams wrote on social media. The coach had earlier apologized to Ghanaians for the 2:1 loss to Cape Verde.
