I WILL END UP AT ‘COUNTER-BACK’ IF I SAY WHAT’S ON MY MIND – DKB On ‘Dumsor’, Economy

Ghanaian comedian, DKB has expressed his dissatisfaction on social media about the state of the economy and the frequent power outages, or “dumsor,” that negatively impact day-to-day living.

DKB, real name Derrick Kobina Bonney, gave an explanation for his disappearance from social media in a tweet dated April 26. He attributed it to the distress brought on by the country’s economic difficulties and the unstable power supply.

He implied that he would face the consequences for his candor by saying that if he tweeted his genuine thoughts about the circumstance, he might wind himself at “counter-back”—that is, under police detention.

“You’ve not been seeing my tweets lately cos Chale, the way the bad economy and dumsor dey make I vex daily, If I go tweet, I’ll end up for cornerback (behind bars). Who else feels the same?” he posted.

Many Ghanaians can relate to DKB’s tweet as the nation struggles with unstable electricity and economic challenges that have impacted both the country’s economy and its residents’ quality of life.
