YOU ABSOLUTELY DESERVE TO LIVE, PEOPLE HAVE DONE FAR WORSE – George Quaye Encourages Chef Smith Amid Fake GWR Cook-A-Thon Saga

Ghanaian actor, playwright and event promoter, George Quaye has taken to social media to share some words of encouragement with embattled Ghanaian chef, Chef Smith following his infamous cook-a-thon attempt.

Ghanaians have heavily castigated Chef Smith for deceiving them into buying into his Guinness World Records adventure after he survived a cooking marathon that lasted for weeks and faked a certificate he claimed to have received from Guinness World Records for breaking the longest cooking time.

After admitting his wrongdoing, he passionately rendered an unqualified apology to Ghanaians for the deception whilst stating that he does not deserve to live.

It is on the back of this that George Quaye, the Chief Executive Officer of Image Bureau, has thrown his weight behind Chef Smith after acknowledging his blunder and apologizing to Ghanaians for the harm caused.

According to George, a lot of Ghanaians have done worse things but are living freely on Ghanaian soil therefore he also deserves to live.

He wrote;

“Chef Smith,

This might not be the message you expect, but I’m gonna share it anyway… Dude, you did the right thing.

Yes, the disappointment cuts deep, we all know that. People are disappointed, angry, and yes, making all kinds of jokes. It’s a lot to process. But through the storm, you did something I think is incredibly honorable – you apologized.

Listen, in Ghana, owning up to mistakes isn’t always easy. We roast hard and can make you even hate yourself for doing the right thing.

And wait, did I hear you say you didn’t deserve to live? Like seriously? Why? Because you lied? Come on dude! Take that back! You absolutely deserve to live! Trust me, there are people who’ve done far worse walking around just fine.

You messed up, yes, but millions make mistakes.
What separates us is how we handle them.

If even half the people on these streets could muster the courage you did today, this country would be a whole lot better.

You don’t deserve to live in the darkness of a lie. You deserve a chance to rebuild, to learn, and to cook with the passion that probably fueled this whole crazy dream in the first place.

This isn’t the end, Chef. It’s a new chapter.
And hey, we all deserve 2nd chances.
So though I’m dead damn disappointed in the fib you cooked and served us all, I am more than willing to give you a second chance and pray that others do too.

Please find a way to make it up to your sponsors.

Even if you cooked up that apology…
Even if the tears and words were all contrived…
You do deserve to live, Chef Smith!

And you totally deserve another opportunity to do what you do best…
Cook!
