I’M STILL PAYING DEBTS AFTER INVESTING IN KAAKI’S MUSIC – Artiste Manager, JMJ Laments

Popular Ghanaian music producer and Chief Executive Officer of Xtra Large Music, JMJ disclosed that he still has outstanding debts from the work he did for his previous artist, Kaakie, and is still making payments.

JMJ stated that he did not make the most of the financial opportunities from investing in Kaakie. He stated that the sole income she made was from the live performances she did.

“As we speak, I am still servicing debts,” JMJ told Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z.

JMJ confessed that he failed to make enough money from his investment in Kaakie due to the lack of understanding on how to promote songs on digital platforms when they were first released.

“Half of our songs are being monetized by other people,” he indicated.

JMJ, though, acknowledged that they made some income from the performances they put on.

“Where we were seeing inflows were direct shows. That is why back then we paid attention to shows more than all of these things,” he said.

In addition to his lack of success in earning income from Kaakie, he also confessed that he did not make any money from music production in the beginning.

“Some of the things we were doing, we didn’t even think we were going to make money from them. Let me put it this way, I didn’t make money from my music productions.

“There were days and times that I had to pay for the transportation of these artistes so that they could come to the studio to record music,” he said.
