Famous music producer and artist manager, Kwesi Ernest, has revealed his struggles with depression following the release of his debut gospel song.
During an interview on Adom TV, Kwesi Ernest discussed the challenges he encountered when attempting to establish himself in the gospel music industry in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Ernest described how his dream of creating a thriving gospel album turned into a nightmare due to financial difficulties and failed expectations.
“The issue of doing gospel music during that period was incredibly tough. I released a gospel album, but the struggle to produce it was a journey between heaven and hell for me,” he said.
Even with backing from certain churchgoers, the album fell short of expectations financially, resulting in him being in debt and feeling unsuccessful.
“I thought I was going to make money, but after the album launch, I was left with nothing.
“My mother helped me during this difficult time. I was so depressed that I couldn’t go out,” he shared.
