HIGH COURT ADJOURNS BAIL HEARING FOR REMANDED DEMOCRACY HUB PROTESTERS TO OCTOBER 7

The Accra High Court has postponed the bail application hearing for eight remanded protestors to 7th October 2024.

The initial application was scheduled for that day, but the protestors’ lawyer requested an Abridgement of Time to move the hearing up.

This application was first mentioned on Monday, September 30th, when the Attorney General’s office asked for extra time to review and reply.

The court approved the AG’s request for a response until this morning.

The AG’s department stated in their reply that the bail request should have contained the charge sheet and the Circuit Court proceedings that had denied bail before.

The Court ultimately agreed with the State’s position and rescheduled the proceedings to the initial date of 7th October.

Significantly, this day occurs just before the remand order expires, prompting the protestors to make their way back to court.
