SALIFU AMOAKO’S SON REMANDED OVER FATAL EAST LEGON ACCIDENT

The son of Prophet Salifu Amoako has been remanded in custody following his involvement in a fatal accident at East Legon.

He appeared before the Juvenile Court in Accra on Friday, November 1, 2024, where the court ordered the seizure of his American and Ghanaian passports to prevent any risk of flight.

The tragic accident, which occurred on October 12 claimed the lives of two individuals, sparking public outcry and calls for justice.

The accused, a minor, faces serious charges related to the accident, including manslaughter, negligently causing harm, Dangerous Driving, and Driving without a valid licence.

The court also mandated a medical review for the accused, and he is expected to be taken to the University of Ghana Hospital on Monday for further examination. This review will assess his physical and mental health following the incident.

The court further ordered that he reappears for the next hearing on November 7, 2024, where more details regarding his involvement and any potential legal proceedings are expected to be discussed.

This case has attracted considerable media attention, partly due to the high-profile nature of his family background, raising broader discussions about road safety, accountability, and the legal process for juvenile offenders in Ghana.
