The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has indicated that if he is elected president of Ghana on December 7, his priority will be to boost the agriculture sector.
“ If I’m elected president, my priority will be agriculture because agriculture plays an important role in our economy. About 50% of Ghanaians are farmers, and so for Ghana to prosper, we need to strengthen our agriculture sector, “ he assured.
He made this known at the Kumbungu Chief palace during his Northern region tour.
According to him, District Agric Mechanization centers will be established at the district level to enhance agriculture nationwide.
“ we will provide tractors and other equipments to help farmers to boost their productivity because farmers do not have the capital to embark on massive farming activities and so this initiative will help them to expand their production just like the DRIP machines we brought for the various assemblies to use to enhance our road sector.”
He assured the Kumbungu Chief that his government will create an irrigation facility from the Dalun dam to boost agriculture in the Kumbungu area and its surroundings.
Dr. Bawumia reechoed government policies such as the Free Senior High School programme where about 5.7 million students have benefited, Planting for Food and Jobs , One Constituency, One Ambulance, free dialysis for kidney patients , improved national health insurance among other policies which has positively improved the lives of the ordinary Ghana.
He also assured the Kumbungu Chief that the Nawuni bridge will be completed to boost agriculture in the area.
The NPP flagbearer disclosed that plans are far advanced for establishing two senior schools in Tolon and Dalun and an astroturf in Kumbungu.
He called on the people Kumbungu and its environs to vote massively for the NPP to continue with the massive development already ongoing in the district.
