Daniel Asiedu’s murder trial, charged with the killing of former Abuakwa North MP JB Danquah, will undergo a retrial due to a hung jury decision.
The presiding judge had to dismiss the jury under Section 285(4) of the Criminal and Other Offences (Procedure) Act, 1960 (Act 30) as their verdict was considered inadequate for further proceedings.
Daniel Asiedu, referred to as Sexy Don Don, faced charges of robbery and the murder of the deceased MP. Consequently, the suspect remains in detention.
The details of the case reveal that the defendant visited the deceased MP’s residence and climbed a ladder to access the MP’s room. The night duty security guard was allegedly asleep at the time of the incident.
Reports indicate that the suspect struggled with the victim, gained the upper hand, stabbed him in the neck and chest, and took three phones.
